UMass Students Relocate to Emerson After Pipe Burst

Following a burst sprinkler pipe on February 9, University of Massachusetts Boston students are being relocated to Emerson College due to extensive water damage in East Residence Hall. The incident has affected hundreds of students, with about 50 rooms sustaining damage. As repairs are underway, an agreement with Emerson allows affected students to move into the Little Building, a 13-story residence hall, starting Sunday. Previously, students were temporarily housed at a DoubleTree hotel. The burst pipe, located in a secured-entry mechanical room, was attributed to extreme cold, causing water to spread across several floors.
