DePaul Art Museum to Close Amid Financial Struggles

DePaul University announced the permanent closure of its art museum on June 30 due to significant financial challenges. The university previously laid off 114 employees in December amid declining international graduate student enrollment and rising costs. The museum lost $500,000 in expected funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services in 2025. Its 4,000-object collection, including works by Andy Warhol, faces an uncertain future. Two final exhibitions will open in March, featuring artists Barbara Nessim and Alice Tippit.
